Burton 4-H Center: Environmental Education

Homeschool Fall Days

Fall 2014

September 15 to 17 and September 22 to 24, 2014 and November 24-26, 2014

An Environmental Education field study designed specifically for homeschoolers.  Bring your family to the beach for an educational vacation at a great value.  Our environmental education program has taught over 7,000 students a year for over twenty years.  We have reserved space during these days exclusively for individual homeschool families to sign up directly with us.

The cost for these 3-day field study sessions includes lodging, classes, and meals.

  • Adults and students ages 6 and above: $106 per person.
  • Children ages 3-5 are half price; 2 and under are free
  • If you are staying off-site, the price is $81 per person which includes all meals and classes or $32 per person for classes only and no meals or lodging.
  • You can move into your dorm a day early or stay a day later ($18 per person per night)

Our dormitories have heat, AC, and bathrooms (see pictures on our website).  It’s not the holiday inn, but you will enjoy staying right next to where all the activities are located.  Dorm space is very limited so I encourage you to sign up early.  Groups of 5 or more will have their own private dorm.  If you have less than five bring along some friends so you have 5 people and can have your own private dorm.  If you have less than 5 total people you will be paired up with another family.   All female groups will also be grouped together.  There will be plenty of room, our dorms are designed for about 20 people.  Another option is to stay at a hotel, condo, house or campground on Tybee Island and join us for class and/or meals.

Students will be busy the entire time with our engaging classes taught by our excellent staff.  Most classes take place outdoors taking advantage of the beaches and marshes of Tybee Island.  See the schedule on our website ( for detailed class descriptions and schedule for each session.  Each Homeschool Days session has slightly different class offerings.  Students will be grouped with children of similar ages.  Classes are designed for ages 5 through 17.  Adults are expected to attend classes as well and help with supervision during your entire length of stay.  Younger children are welcome to attend classes but should be under close parental supervision.
