David Weber, Program Coordinator
Paul has been the Director at the Burton 4-H Center on Tybee Island since Halloween 2002. Before coming to the island, Paul worked about 2.5 yrs as the environmental education program coordinator at the Wahsega 4-H Center in Dahlonega, GA. Paul completed his under-graduate degree in environmental science before pursuing and receiving a Master's Degree in Secondary Education with a concentration in science education. After earning his Master's degree Paul worked as a seasonal environ-mental education instructor at both residential and day use facilities. Paul spends his free time with his dog Esther, enjoying the outdoor recreation activities available in the area, or working on his house. To date Paul has completed 3 marathons and hopes to complete his next in 3:45:00 or less.
David Weber came to the Burton 4-H Center after completing a Master's degree in outdoor and environmental education from Northern Illinois University. Prior to that, David spent four years as an outdoor educator in Illinois and Indiana. David first fell in love with teaching when he was a middle school math and science teacher working for the Peace Corps in Gambia, West Africa. Upon returning to the United States, David found that outdoor education combines his two loves: working with children and being in the outdoors. Seeing the excitement in kids as they discover the wonders of the natural world gives David his greatest work satisfaction. On Tybee Island, David and his wife enjoy exploring the sur-rounding marshes and creeks by kayak, swimming in the ocean and playing sand volleyball.
